Siirt Journal of Social Research (SSAD) has started its publishing life to be a platform where academicians, experts in their field, and individuals interested in the social sciences field can share information. Within the scope of this principle, it aims to both guide researchers and contribute to the scientific literature with qualified studies by meticulously evaluating original and scientific studies at the national or international level in the field of social sciences.
Siirt Journal of Social Research (SJSR) accepts original scientific studies from the following scientific fields:
Economics, Business Administration, Accounting and Finance, Marketing, Political Science, International Trade, Public Administration, Education, Psychology, Sociology, Social Service, Tourism, Management Information Systems, Information Management
General
• Manuscripts submitted to the Siirt Journal of Social Research must not have been previously published or submitted for publication elsewhere.
• The Siirt Journal of Social Research publishes original research, reviews, short communications, translations, and letters to the editor in Turkish and English within the field of social sciences.
• If the study was supported by an institution/organization or derived from a doctoral/master's thesis, this must be indicated as a footnote on the first page.
• An author may have one first-authored work and up to two co-authored works published in the same issue.
• All responsibility for the published articles lies with the author(s).
• Authors who withdraw their manuscripts twice after the peer-review stage will not have their articles published in the journal again.
• Works that do not comply with the author guidelines and journal publication policies will not be evaluated.
• All publication rights of accepted and published articles belong to the Siirt Journal of Social Research.
• Manuscripts submitted to the journal must comply with the spelling rules of the Turkish Language Association.

• Manuscripts should be formatted on A4 (210 x 297 mm) paper with 2.5 cm margins on all sides.
• Articles should include the following sections: title, author names and affiliations, abstract, keywords, main text, references, and appendices.
• To expedite typesetting and proofreading, articles must be:
• Prepared in Microsoft Word,
• Written in Times New Roman font,
• 10-point font for abstracts and 11-point for the main text,
• Justified alignment for paragraphs,
• Single line spacing,
• 6 nk space before paragraphs,
• No longer than 25 pages (including references),
• Page numbers placed in the bottom right corner.
• Main and subheadings in the text should be numbered (e.g., 1. Introduction, 2. Materials and Methods, 2.1. Findings and Discussion, etc.).
• Headings should start at the paragraph beginning, be written in lowercase (except for the first letter of each word), and be bold. A single blank line should precede headings.
• In-text citations should follow APA style (author, year, page). Footnotes (1,2,3,…) should be used only for necessary explanations.
Tables, Charts, and Figures
• All non-tabular visuals (photos, drawings, diagrams, graphs, maps, etc.) should be labeled as "Figure" and numbered consecutively (Figure 1, Figure 2…).
• Each table and figure should be placed appropriately within the text, with captions, and have a blank line above and below.
• Figures and tables may be presented in single or double columns, but their width should not exceed 15 cm (single column) or 7.5 cm (double column).
• Figure captions should be placed below the figure, while table and chart titles should be above, written in 9-point font, lowercase (except for the first letter).
• Table, chart, and figure content (including captions) should be in 9-point font.
First Page
• The article title (in Turkish and English) should be concise, written in lowercase (except for the first letter of each word), 12-point font, bold, and centered.
• Author names should follow the title (with one blank line in between), in 9-point font, lowercase (except for the first letter), and centered (without academic titles).
• Surnames should be in uppercase.
• Academic titles and affiliations should be provided as footnotes (first letter capitalized, separated by commas).
• If the work was presented at a conference/symposium, include details (event name, date, location) as a numbered footnote (1,2,3,…).
• Abstracts (and Abstract/Keywords) should not exceed 250 words, be in 10-point font, single-spaced.
• Turkish articles must include an English abstract (and vice versa), with the title in the same language.
• Keywords (max. 6 words) should follow the Turkish abstract; Keywords should follow the English abstract.
Citations and References
• In-text citations should follow (Author, Year: Page) format (e.g., Genç, 2007: 38).
• For sources with three or more authors, use "et al." (English) or "vd." (Turkish).
• Multiple citations should be ordered chronologically. For multiple works by the same author in the same year, use (Author, 2020a, 2020b).
• If citing an entire work, use (Author, Year).
• The References section should be at the end, in alphabetical order, 11-point font, single-spaced, and without numbering.
• Online sources must have been accessed no earlier than 6 months before submission.
Submission Checklist
• Authors must ensure their submission meets all checklist items. Non-compliant submissions will be returned.
• The manuscript is unpublished and not under review elsewhere (or an explanation is provided in Notes to the Editor).
• The file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect format, with no author details in the text.
• URLs for references are provided where available. Figures/tables are embedded in the text (not at the end). For printing, submit high-quality image files separately.
• If the file is too large, split it and upload sections as supplementary files.
• For peer-reviewed submissions, remove author names and identifying information before submission.
ETHICAL PRINCIPLES
Scientific studies submitted to Siirt Journal of Social Research (SJSR) must adhere to the recommendations of the ICMJE (International Committee of Medical Journal Editors) and the COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) International Standards for Editors and Authors.
PUBLICATION ETHICS
Ethics Committee Approval: Studies requiring ethics committee approval (including surveys, interviews, observations, document/image analyses, or any research involving human/animal subjects—whether in social sciences, clinical trials, or experimental studies) must obtain prior approval from relevant ethics boards. This approval must be stated in the manuscript and documented. Submissions without proper authorisation will be returned during preliminary review.
Ethics Statement: For studies requiring ethics approval, details (committee name, date, and approval number) must be included in the Methods section and on the first/last page of the manuscript. Case reports must declare that informed consent was obtained.
Copyright Compliance: Proper attribution must be given for any intellectual or artistic works used.
Data Transparency: Raw data must be provided upon request during peer review and retained for potential post-publication verification.
PLAGIARISM POLICY
Manuscripts must be submitted with an originality report from a plagiarism detection tool (e.g., iThenticate, intihal.net). The maximum acceptable similarity rate is 20%. Submissions exceeding this threshold will be rejected during initial screening.
AUTHOR ETHICS
Originality & Attribution: Authors must guarantee the originality of their work and properly cite others’ ideas, text, images, graphs, or tables. Uncited use constitutes plagiarism.
Authorship Responsibility: All listed authors share equal responsibility for the content. Ghost authorship (excluding contributors) or gift authorship (including non-contributors) is unacceptable.
Data Integrity: Findings must be reported truthfully. Fabrication, falsification, selective data omission, or manipulation is prohibited.
Duplicate Submission: Simultaneous submission to multiple journals or resubmission of previously published work is not permitted.
REVIEWER ETHICS
Confidentiality: Reviewers must maintain confidentiality and not share manuscript details with third parties.
Timely & Objective Evaluation: Reviews must be unbiased, scientific, constructive, and submitted within the stipulated timeframe.
Comprehensive Assessment: Reports should evaluate the manuscript’s scientific merit (topic relevance, methodology, literature use) and provide clear feedback, whether positive or negative.
Plagiarism/Publication Red Flags: Reviewers must alert the editor if they suspect plagiarism or prior publication.
DECLARATIONS (TO BE INCLUDED BEFORE REFERENCES)
Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any potential conflicts related to the research, authorship, or publication.
Funding: Authors must declare any financial support received for the study.
Ethics Approval: Authors must state whether ethics committee approval was required for the research.
No fee is charged from the author or institution under any name.
